Our Detachment participated in the Hanover Township Memorial Day Parade including my wife Margaret Brown, Michael Dougherty, Cleveland Addison, Steve Ferman, Stanley Zon, Tom Miller, Art Bowie, Tony Fiorentino and Joe Sanchelli Jr. we picked up a brand new US Army 2nd Lt. Shannon Zicarrell who along with
member Warrant Officer Sharon Einbinder led the Detachment in the Parade. Mike Dougherty kept cadence and at times we had to shuffle step due to Mike's long strides (he is one large Marine).
The Parade route was from Whippany Park High School to the American Legion where we have our meetings. It was a hot day and I for one was sweating and had sunburn on my face which I discovered when I got home. Along the way we got a lot of applauds, cheers and Thank You's from the crowds that had gathered along the way. It was nice to hear the words of encouragement from the civilian population.
At the American Legion we stood in formation in front of the Monuments and participated in the Flag Raising and speeches by the Politicians and were very pleased to have WO Sharon Einbinder in her Dress Blues be the Guest Speaker for the event. She did us proud and was the best part of the Ceremony.
After the Ceremony we were treated to Hot Dogs, Soda, Beer and Ice Cream all donated by the Supermarket Chain Wigman's.
