Hi everyone. My name is Paul Brown and I am the incoming Commandant for 2022. I have been a member of the Detachment for about 4 years. I was Jr. Vice Commandant under Eddie Neas and when Mike Lewis took over I became Sr. Vice Commandant. I never thought that I would be Commandant of the Slattery Detachment, but here I am.
We all know of the events in Afghanistan and all of us have mixed feelings about what should and should not have been done. We lost thirteen Marines and Corpsmen in that tragedy and pray for them and their families.
The Wounded Marines were transferred to the Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland and from the time they arrived one of our own has been tirelessly trying to supervise a Hospital Visit as he and others have done in the past. Eddie Neas has been on the phone, emails and every other form of communication to try and setup a visit. He had contacted Amtrak and as in the past they are willing to donate tickets to those who were going to make the trip to Bethesda, Marines Care was going to donate money to help the Parents of the Wounded to offset some of the cost of traveling to see and comfort their loved ones. Eddie has called and spoken with Generals, Congressmen, Colonels and others down the line. Unfortunately no one has been able to provide Eddie with the assistance he has needed to accomplish his MISSION.
I for one want to applaud Sgt Maj Eddie Neas for his valiant efforts to provide aid and comfort to those Brave souls as he done so well in the past. SEMPER FI AND WELL DONE MARINE.
