Ron discussed some of the problems the VFW was having and asked the membership if there were any that wanted to join, they would pay the dues. Several signed up and others were thinking about it. The VFW building on Route 10 is in the process of being sold and the VFW will hold their meetings at the Legion on the second Tuesday of each month.
After all the business was complete, Commandant Eddie made the motion that we move into the “Cake Cutting” agenda. Dominic Monaco cut the cake and offered a piece according to tradition to the oldest member in attendance. Well, the oldest coot was Dan Danzi as he probably was there at Belleau wood as a PFC. He received a piece as well as the State Commandant.
It was a vanilla cake with butter cream frosting and lemon filling. It tasted good to all. The cake was purchased at Greater Morristown ShopRite. Liz in the bakery department did a great job decorating for us.
The 50-50 was drawn and Tom Miller took home the $50.00. Several other prizes were won including two patriotic plant stands and a beautiful Marine Corps book.
The meeting was then adjourned and the group stepped up to pizzas and beer/soda and birthday cake and coffee before walking out ending another monthly meeting. Tony picked up the chairs and Tom & John cleaned the rest of the place up.
