4th annual Operation Jersey Care Gala

On Saturday night, 19 October a few members of the Detachment attended the 4th annual Operation Jersey Care Gala. Members included Monika Flaherty, Doc Campbell and his wife, Bob Dante and his wife, Gunny Monaco, Sgt Monaco, Linda and me. The event was held at The Farmhouse in Hampton, NJ. Gunny Monaco and his team put on an outstanding display of the raising of the Flag on Iwo Jima and presenting the Colors for the National Anthem. Pilots, Captain Ben Casio and Major Ted Worster did a fly over a few times in a Viet Nam era Cessna O1-E Birddog spotter plane to add the event. A Good touch, I was just waiting for smoke and flares to be dropped, but No Can Do in New Jersey.

It was a great turnout. Food and drinks were good and it was a great time for OJC to show all the supporters that they appreciated what they have done over the years to support the men and women who wear the uniform of the U.S. Military that are deployed away from their families and friends protecting the freedoms of those around the globe who cannot do it themselves. With the upcoming holidays it means that much more to show them that WE back home appreciate all that they do, no matter where they may be.
