Student Veterans honored Chris with this mural

Yesterday was NJ's Run for the Fallen. I believe it was two years ago that the organizers of the event called to ask us if we were Ok if they moved Chris' marker to the campus of Monmouth University since Chris graduated there in 2005. The marker is behind the Student Center. Inside the Student Center is an area for students who are Veterans. Yesterday, the student Veterans honored Chris with this mural.

At the next meeting on 7 November, I will turn over the Detachment Commandants billet to a fellow Viet Nam Veteran Tom Miller. The past year as your Commandant has been a little tough, but mostly rewarding. Trying to get members to volunteer for the various activities and functions we do throughout the year has not gone as well as I would have liked. The same members still volunteer, but we need new members to move into the future. There is a lot of good we do and most never get to see it in person. All you do is hear about it at the meeting, eat a slice of pizza and go home. We are More than that. We get almost 30 members at each meeting. All you have to do, is VOLUNTEER for one event and it will help the Detachment.Remember the motto, "GUNG HO". It means "Working Together" and it was adopted by U.S. Marines. So lets get on board and do it as a Detachment.

On 10 November the Marine Corps will celebrate the 243rd Birthday of our Corps. The following day we celebrate Veteran's Day. Remember all those who have worn the uniform in the past, the present and those who will wear it in the future; and let's not forget those men and women who no longer can.

Semper Fidelis, Neas Out.
